Achievements
The League was instrumental in getting the following benefits to the Ex-Servicemen, widows and their dependents:
- One time increase in pension for PBORs wef 01 Jan 1992.
- Increase in pension of all Ex-Servicemen as per Sixth Central Pay Commission.
- Enhancement in Disability Pension.
- Restoration of commuted portion of pension after 15 years instead of 20 years.
- Widow’s entitlement to full pension to parents of martyrs.
- Removal of matric qualification restriction for allotment of Agency/Petrol Pump to War Widows.
- Right of Proxy Vote to Defence Personnel.
- Restoration of two pensions, including DA for both the pensions.
- Reduction in age from 80 to 75 years with regards to Platinum Grant and increase in the amount of grant of officers.
- Concession n to enter course being run IITTM for children of Defence Personnel, both serving and retired.
- Financial Assistance to WW-II Widows in various States by the League from respective State Govts.
- Establishment of ECHS for medical cover to ESM and their parents and revision of the initial subscription.
- Deletion of VAT from CSD items in the majority of States.
- Family Pension to spinster daughter.
- No contributory amount from pre 1996 pensioners for becoming members of ECHS.
- Option of operating joint account with spouse for pension.
- The League has also been successful in getting a dignified second employment to ex-servicemen in various states.
- Establishment of the on-line Pensioners Portal in conjunction with Govt. of India, Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions.
- Establishment of Legal, Medical (ECHS), RCEL Disability and Distress Cells for Ex-Servicemen, their widows and dependents.
- Bridging the gap between pre and post Jan 2006 pensioners.
